This is a very affordable radar detector for those who cannot justify the cost of the fancier models that are on the market. I myself tend to go only 5-10 MPH over the stated limit and I do not drive all that often in areas that have lots of speed checks. I do want to avoid tickets though and the Vector 940 was the model I decided to get for my needs.

I have to admit that in this price range I was expecting more false alarms than I ended up getting. This was a refreshing surprise! My first radar detector a few years ago was a Whistler and it had me slowing down all the time for no reason.

If you want to waste your time shopping around for a unit that you feel will be better by all means go ahead. But you will end up buying this one so you might as well just go ahead and get it.

I am not a professional driver or a major violator of posted speed limits but I do catch myself going just a little over quite often. Getting speeding tickets can cost you quite a bit with not only the ticket but with your insurance even if you were only going 5 over.

I did not want to spend a fortune to correct this problem but needed to protect myself from this little speeding tickets that can start to add up. The Vector 940 was just what I was looking for. It may not have all the bells and whistles that the more expensive models have, but then I would not understand how to use them anyway. This is a simple radar detector that works well to help me avoid making those little mistakes on my commute.

From 2003-2009 I used 2 different Cobras. While they served their purpose, they also had an immense amount of false alarms to the point where it was embarrassing to have others in the car as it would go off frequently and annoy my guests. I tried a Beltronics this year as the company has a reputation of excellence and my Beltronics V940 did not disappoint. It gave me clear and early warnings when radar was being used and false alarms were minimal. I just finished a 1750 mile road trip, and this product is partly the reason I received no tickets along the way.

It's so easy to use - just plug it in! I was also surprised that it hangs on the window so well. (I wish my GPS had the same mounting system, so it could stay on the window!) The radar detector does help me feel more comfortable about being on the road. At the same time, I noticed I am more alert to road conditions and not daydreaming so much. I'm really glad I bought it!
